I've been avoiding discussing this because I was hoping that if I ignored it, it would just go away. But sadly, my friends, an altered, $11 million pricier version of the Jason Kidd to Dallas trade has gone through.

Yeah, it's pretty one-sided and ridiculous. I can't believe we really gave up that much for fucking Jason Kidd, but whatever. I've just had to resign myself to the fact that the Mavs are really pushing for that championship this year even if it means screwing the team in the long run. A lot of people are really digging the trade, but if we don't go all the way this year (which I highly doubt we will) expect everyone to do a quick about-face and start pointing fingers at Mark Cuban and Avery Johnson.
Spurs fans are really loving the trade and saying that there's no way we can beat them in the playoffs now - and I am emphatically opposed to anything that makes Spurs fans happy. They're basically the Dallas Cowboys of the NBA and their fans should all be sterilized.
Eddie Sefko and Mark Cuban himself offer some more thoughtful analysis, but I'll just keep mine to 2 words: This sucks.

I'm telling you, this is a good trade. Kidd is going to make you guys better, and probably win the ring for you. I covered it already on my blog, but - this is good for the Mavs.
What's incredible is that the league lets team fuck with the salary cap this way. Keith Van Horn? Why not throw in Rolando Blackmon?
God... What are they going to do without Trenton Hassell?!

The draft picks have been stellar lately, huh? How's Pavel Podkolzine doing anyway? Mo Ager and Fazekas were phenomenal.
Diop has been terrible, and Devin's magical defense is overrated. He can't create shots for the guys around him. Kidd makes the team better.

Leave it to the men to bring some reason to the discussion... I dont understand what youre so upset about giving up?? You just got one of the 4 or 5 best pgs in the league for a slightly above avg pg, some garbage and 2 picks you weren't gonna use anyway.
Plus some veteran leadership might come in handy when Dirk pulls his dissapearing act/ choke job again

We're screwing the team in the long run because Kidd is an already past his prime PG, who will only decline in talent for the maybe 2 years he will stay with the Mavs. Harris is a PG on the rise who would have only gotten better and continued to help the team for years to come.

Compare the numbers. Harris > Kidd. Plus as I mentioned to Toph - Kidd is on the decline, Harris is on the rise.
And "veteran leadership" is just a buzz phrase used to justify something as seemingly nonsensical as this. If that's all people can come up with, then it's a pretty poor justification. His "veteran leadership" sure was helping the Nets.

2. The Spurs and Duncan can fail the next three years at even making the playoffs and still have more rings than Dallas and Dirk.
3. Harris was a gem. I'm surprised they dont just send Josh Howard to the Spurs for Micheal Finley, we know how much Cuban Loves him some Finley.
4. The Spurs name is easier to spell.
5. I love this trade, but Kidd does still average close to a triple-double. Those are game-changing stats, unless you play for the Nets.
6. The only Number that will ever get Avery Johnson a Championship.

Kidd has been playing with the Nets. Jefferson is constantly injured, and Vince Carter hates basketball. And Stromile Swift is a joke.
Naturally Devin is going to have decent stats. What is more impressive is that Kidd has the stats he does playing in New Jersey.
And Devin in the long run? Didn't we give up Nash because it was better in the long run? Yeah, that worked out...

People actually think Kidd is still a star?! The mavs just mortgaged their future for a next to nothing in return. Veteran leadership? Kidd has been bitching about getting out of New Jersey for the past couple years. No team has been stupid enough to trade for him til now. Do you think if the Mavs don't win a championship within the next two years that Kidd won't be bitching that the team sucks and he wants to be traded again?
The Mavs are done for a few years on this deal.
Toph is making my arguement for me. Anyone who thinks Harris is better than Kidd is a moron. Harris was playing on a way better team where he was not the focal point, and had many options to distribute the ball. Jason Kidd was playing with the black hole vince carter, a good player in richard jefferson, and a bunch of nbdl players. Kidd wanted out of NJ b/c he wants to win and not play with Carter. and how do you know Harris is on the rise, because hes young? What if he never gets any better and is always a mediocre pg? It was a great trade where they got a borderline HOF pg for an unproven pg and a bunch of garbage.

when the fuck has dirk choked and the whole team not? if you saw the golden state series last year you'd know that the mavericks were never the best team on the court for one second. avery got outcoached, and the whole team got whopped. badly. dirk is a choke artist? WATCH THE FUCKING GAMES!!!! he can only play one damn position. dirk has never been a leader, and never wanted to be. that's why he's on board with this trade.
